In a multi-age classroom, opportunities exist for each child to interact with children of varying backgrounds, abilities, interests, personalities, and ages. According to Lillian Katz, "the intention of multiage grouping is to increase the heterogeneity of the groups so as to capitalize on the differences in the experiences, knowledge, and abilities of the children."
In a multi-age classroom, children are viewed as individuals and expectations are adjusted for each child. Continuous progress in the curriculum promotes social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Research shows that mixed-aged grouping helps children develop social skills and a sense of belonging.
For many children, this is their first experience with non-family members, and their first exposure to a social environment with their peers. Our objective is to provide a meaningful and enjoyable nursery school experience with special emphasis on physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development. The classroom setting provides an atmosphere for interaction and learning including behavior, socialization, and intellectual/academic accomplishments. A wider range of social development will increase your child's independence and promote the development of self-help skills. Younger children may look to more mature peers for assistance. The mixed-age classroom provides an appropriate setting in which children can practice leadership and mentoring skills.
Multi-age groupings encourage more peer teaching, enhance your child's sense of mastery and self-worth, as well as cooperation with and appreciation for others.
Tuition is $205 per month.
There is also a $40 registration fee. This fee is non-refundable and includes an individual liability insurance policy on each child. After a registration form and fee have been received, one of our staff will contact parents to confirm that the child has a place in our class.
